The Business Times
To my mind, the single most important challenge facing journalism and The Business Times, in particular, is managing the inevitable transition to the digital era. The newspaper industry is moving into an era where a sizeable educated audience relies on the Internet as their primary source of information.
Within the business world there is still a role for the browsing of printed newspapers, but this needs to be complemented by digital services such as online archive, PDA and mobile news. The Business Times needs to manage device proliferation. The onslaught of the digital age has created another challenge. Both online and offline journalists will face the huge challenge of coming to the point quickly without surrendering quality.
The rise of blogs has given individuals the ability to reach audiences of their own and challenge mainstream media reporting. However, I strongly believe that professional journalists are irreplaceable.
