Are governments, including our own, sufficiently prepared for terrorist violence? And what proactive steps should we, as individuals and as business people, be taking?

I am sure our government has done its very best to prevent terrorist violence. As a company or individual, we will still need to take all necessary precautions when a crisis arises. It is important for us to keep abreast of the current national and international political climate and terrorist situation. Have a contingency plan which the staff is familiar with so that the business can continue to operate in the aftermath of an incident. We make sure that the electrical switch rooms are not accessible to the public. We also install CCTV cameras and use access cards so that only staff are allowed in the premises for security and safety reasons. Only authorised guests accompanied by our staff are allowed to enter the premises. Our office phone system also has the caller-ID facility so that we can track the caller number in case of a telephone bomb threat. To prevent unknown parcels from being left unattended, parcels are collected and checked by our desk relations officer before distribution in the premises.
