Sakae Sushi
Sakae Sushi is the flagship brand of Apex Pal International Ltd. Our first outlet was established in September 1997 at Raffles Place, in the heart of Singapore’s financial district.
Since then, Sakae Sushi has leapfrogged to become Singapore’s largest kaiten sushi chain, with an impressive record of more than 30 bustling outlets island-wide. We also operate some 20 outlets in Indonesia, Thailand, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and United States (opening soon), of which six are franchises.
Its appeal is undoubtedly its good quality cuisine at great value. As a brand that is dedicated to healthy dining solutions, Sakae offers its customers only the freshest ingredients. In addition, our high-grade sushi rice is also enriched with Vitamin E for added health benefits.
Today, we offer more than 200 items on our menu. Being the innovative food people, we have scored a few firsts in the industry in Singapore:
- Only restaurant with a unique and patented Interactive Menu ordering system that provides an entirely refreshing dining experience
- First and only Japanese restaurant where diners can enjoy sumptuous dishes from both our conveyor belt and teppanyaki counters.
- First and only Japanese restaurant with a specially-designed corner for kids including a kids’ conveyor belt, to hold their birthday parties
- First and only restaurant that delivers Japanese cuisine straight to your door step, including sushi and sashimi that’s kept fresh with our innovative packaging
“Sakae” means growth in Japanese and this is the brand’s guiding vision. The Sakae frog symbolises a brand that is far sighted and poised to grow by leaps and bounds. Its smile indicates a friendly company, welcoming all. Our Asian heritage is reflected through the lower body of the frog that is reminiscent of a Chinese gold ingot, and a bowl filled with rice. The Chinese Character “荣” means ‘growth’. The frog’s head and belly also symbolises the number ‘8’ that is an auspicious number.

Sakae Teppanyaki
Sakae Teppanyaki, launched in January 2007, is the latest addition to the chain of restaurants under Apex-Pal International Ltd.
Set against a backdrop of contemporary elegance, Sakae Teppanyaki is casual dining at its best. The large teppanyaki griddle fitted with a granite counter and lined with seats round the edges is at the heart of this open dining concept. This is the place to be for teppanyaki food lovers who want to indulge in a premium range of their favourite dishes at a value-for-money price tag.
Apart from regular items such as beef, chicken and prawns, we serve the freshest seafood including live bamboo clam and lobster.
Not only do we believe in dishing out the best, our team of experienced chefs enjoys creating a unique menu that will add to your dining experience. One example is the Foie Gras with Beef – the soft velvety texture of Foie Gras as it melts in your mouth will make you craving for more.
Another must-try dish is the Teppanyaki Seafood Chawanmushi. Inspired by the success of our all-time favourite Chawanmushi, this is another innovative dish which uses an onion as a bowl. The tea bowl-shaped onion is filled with an egg mixture and other ingredients like shitake mushroom, kamaboko and crabstick. It is then left to steam on the griddle, allowing the naturally distinctive flavour of the onion to seep through. Definitely a classic Japanese dish with a twist!
In addition, there is a wide selection of mushroom and vegetable dishes for the health conscious. They can even opt for brown rice when they order Fried Rice or our super-fragrant Garlic Rice.
“Sakae”, which means “growth” in Japanese is also the central feature in the brand logo, as displayed through the Chinese character -- 荣 (pronounced as rong). Sakae Teppanyaki has three outlets located at Century Square, Cathay Cineleisure and Sun Plaza.
Sakae Pizza
Leveraging on the Sakae brand name is our new kid on the block – Sakae Pizza. Launched in May 2007, this is a quick service Japanese pizza kiosk. Casual and fun is the theme of the day all year round as our service staff dishes out both savoury and fruity pizza.
Select from a choice of tasty Japanese pizzas such as Unagi Oshinko, Teriyaki Chicken or Beef, Chinmi, or traditional all-time favourites such as Mushroom Cheese or Turkey ham. For those who prefer a light and healthy meal, there’s always our Soup of the Day and Green Salad to count on.
Sakae Pizza is now open at Junction 8.
Sakae@Campus
Launched in March 2007, Sakae@Campus operates from a kiosk in school canteens and brings all-time favourite Japanese rice (donburi) and noodle (udon) dishes to students at very affordable student prices. So far, it’s a hit with students craving for good healthy Japanese food which has the same quality that’s found in all other Sakae Sushi outlets.
There are currently two Sakae Campus outlets located at Dunman High and Meridien Junior College).
Hei Sushi
Hei Sushi was started with the intention of bringing good healthy Japanese food to the Malay muslim community in Singapore. What better way to kick off the concept then having a ‘halal’ version of Sakae Sushi, the flagship brand of Apex-Pal International. While we are preparing to have Hei Sushi formally certified as a ‘halal’ restaurant, diners will be happy to know that pork is not served at the restaurant (including all our Sakae Sushi outlets) and we use only ‘halal’ meats.
Hei Sushi’s flagship outlet is located at White Sands.
Sho-U
Sho-U is the symbol of unprecedented boldness. Refusing to be defined by the perimeters of its previous achievements, Apex-Pal launches Sho-U, the new talking-point destination for contemporary Japanese fine-dining.
Conceptualised and brought to fruition by award winning designer of the Ministry of Design Pte Ltd, Mr Colin Seah, Sho-U was inspired by the dramatic intensity and vivid hues of Japanese Kabuki theatre. Juxtaposing the spirit of the ‘traditional’ with an unconventional and surprising aesthetic, the interior of Sho-U provides a dining experience in itself. At the heart of Kabuki theatre, the actors and plots often take on sudden and dramatic twists. The space begins in an entirely red entry vestibule and unfolds into an all black series of dining nooks. These nooks ring along a full height white dining hall where the spatial experience culminates in an expression of natural light and views to the river beyond.
Other great hands that played a part in shaping Sho-U into an image perfect dining destination include Singaporean artist Ms Lee Meiling, whose fabric art installations of the sakura (cherry) flowers complement the main walls, ceiling and private room, as well as Ms Jo Soh of ‘I Love Hansel’ fame, who designed the uniforms of all the service consultants. That’s right – the people working to deliver a perfect dining experience to you are named service consultants for that sleek touch. Not forgetting the master of the kitchen, Tommy Ueda-san, who has 15 years of international experience at the helm of restaurants.
Situated on the 3rd floor at CENTRAL, the restaurant oversees bustling Clarke Quay and the Singapore river. Be enthralled by the fine views, fine cuisine and professional service that is all about U. And with a pleasantly affordable price tag, it is hoped that Sho-U, which is derived from ‘shoyu’ – an essential ingredient in Japanese food, would live up to its namesake and feature as an essential in the diets of food loving people here.
Crepes & Cream
Crepes & Cream Restaurant was established by Apex-Pal International in August 2001 to create a hip and trendy space where our guests can sit back and enjoy good food or a quick snack.
More than just desserts, Crepes & Cream specialises in sweet and savoury crepes. Its aromatic, wafer thin crepes are made from a custom blended crepe mixture unique to Crepes & Cream. Reflecting its international appeal, its savoury crepes come in an assortment of fillings that cut across various cuisines including Japanese, Chinese and Italian.
Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted with our mouth watering ingenious treats using premium ingredients such as Bud’s Ice Cream of San Francisco and fresh fruits. Bud's Ice Cream is not only rated one of the world's best ice cream, it is made from skimmed milk so you can indulge in these sweet desserts without feeling guilty.
Crepes & Cream is located at Orchard Cineleisure.
Uma Uma Men
Uma Uma Men, which means “Yummy Yummy Noodles” in Japanese, was first established by Apex-Pal International in May 2005.
True to its name, Uma Uma Men serves only freshly made Japanese noodles, straight from a special noodle-making machine. In fact, it is the first in Singapore to use such equipment to transform fresh and natural ingredients into dough and then into different types of noodles – soba, ramen and udon - within a matter of minutes. The noodles are cooked and served immediately, thus capturing the essence of the ingredients and freshness in every strand of noodle.
The use of machines also ensures consistency in quality and taste. To replicate the exact taste of the noodles found in Japan, Apex Pal has gone to the extent of investing in another machine to transform the water found in Singapore to that found in Japan.
Uma Uma Men features a menu of over 50 classic and contemporary noodle dishes from all time favourite Zaru Soba to exciting new concoctions like Special Soba Set and Salad Udon. It offers two choices of Tonkotsu (pork bone) or Shio (salt) soup bases specially brewed by our chefs. Diners who prefer other Japanese dishes other than noodles can opt for our fine selection of a la carte items including sushi and rice dishes, salads, tofu, tempura and the list goes on.
Uma Uma Men is located at Capitol Building.
